Client: HGK (Croatian Chamber of Economy)
Solution: Drupal-based platform
The project goal was to create a unique national platform to enable all stakeholders of the innovation value chain to collaborate, share information, and distribute documents. Enhanced networking was set by centralizing all information and facilitating communication between stakeholders.
As the goal was, and still is, ambitious – it was a challenge to create platform features that would fulfill such extensive needs. Luckily, we were cooperating with Atos, one of the global leaders in digital transformation.
Throughout the project, I was on the same side of the table with Mr. Tvrtko Pavić with whom I had great pleasure working. We have conducted a series of discovery workshops to come up with a defined project functional specification. This helped to keep the ideas and possibilities of the technical solutions in a fixed project budget. To achieve this, extensive meetings had to be arranged with our developers to gather scope estimates and keep the project on the right trajectory.
On the other side of the table, the client side, we were pleased to be working with a young and ambitious team from the Croatian Chamber of Economy. Leading the team was ms. Danijela Ćenan, director of the Sector for industrial development and innovation system. With her right hand, mr. Mateo Ivanac who was leading the project from the client side. Both of them, as well as the extended team of employees, were highly professional and easy to work with, which resulted in the development of a well-designed and functional national platform.
The public part of the platform contains information on the latest developments and trends – about inventions and innovations – but also the national innovation system and all involved – the so-called stakeholders of the innovation value chain.
Part of the innovation platform for registered users serves as a communication channel for members of the National Innovation Council, Industry Innovation Council, and Thematic Innovation Councils.
Also, the goal of the innovation platform is to bring together the stakeholders of the innovation system, primarily representatives of the business and scientific-research sectors, in order to foster cooperation on joint innovation projects. That’s why a key part of the innovation platform is the Idea Market – a place where one can look for a collaborative project or come up with a project idea to find a partner. It is also possible to view information on funding opportunities and use links to various institutions in Croatia and the region.
The platform was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. This meant that precise milestones and phase reports had to be documented in order to justify the usage of the funds.
